My “supervisor” looked up my house on the internet where there was pictures of the inside, from when it was for sale, while we were living there. I never gave him my address, only our boss has my personal info. Is this illegal or just creepy?
Rita Risser Chai replies:
It’s definitely creepy. But it’s not illegal for people to look up stuff on the internet. He didn’t need to get your address from company records. These days it is easy to find anyone’s address online.
But I’m wondering how you found this out? If he talked to you about it, what did he say? Was he making sexual remarks in connection with this? If so, it might be sexual harassment—and that’s illegal.
If this is an ongoing situation, you may want to talk to your HR department or an attorney to find out your rights. Good luck.
