He is stating that I am taking days off of work like the woman in my last position did. I have 2 children and not much of anyone to help me, I was recently sick for 2 days with a stomach flu and had come back into work to be told that the boss can’t make exceptions for me, then my boss stated that all of his employees that come into my position all have attendance issues and basically said he didn’t think I was sick. I have no doctor’s note, and they have never asked me for one for any of my absences nor have they asked anyone else.
Rita Risser Chai Responds:
It’s not a good idea for bosses to talk about attendance, but if it’s apparent to everyone that you’re not at work, it’s not really an invasion of privacy. However, if you have not exceeded the allowable sick days, or if there is no requirement for a doctor’s note if you’re out two days, then it sounds like he is not following company policy and you can talk to HR. Good luck.
