Even if you have a perfectly reasonable excuse, your employer is entitled to hold you accountable if you do not show up for work on time. However, if your absences are for personal or family medical reasons, you may be covered by the Family and Medical Leave Act, which grants you up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave. You may want to consult a local employment lawyer to learn more about your rights.
Good luck.
